Not everyone is in the business of promoting services or products that can be delivered globally. Those using Twitter to raise awareness of their local enterprise, be it a restaurant or a personal training service, will want to select Twitter followers living in close proximity to their business locality. Here are 8 tools that used individually or in tandem with each another will enable them to do so.

  1. Twitter.com Advanced Search (enter zip code plus search distance)
  2. TwitterLocal
  3. Nearby Tweets
  4. You’ve got Tweeple.com
  5. Twellowhood
  6. Twitter Hawk
  7. Twitter Grader
  8. Advanced search

Plus here’s a great tip for building your local Twitter community, compliments of BellaCasa, “Begin searching for local newspapers, restaurants, names of towns, sports teams and landmarks, click on the people who are following them and see if any of their Followers are local people, follow them. Repeat.”

Happy community building.
